Kim McMillan
Town Hall Meeting
Saturday Aug. 23, 4:00 – 6:00 P.M.
Ms. Kim McMillan, the first woman in history to
become majority leader of the Tennessee House of Representatives, will be the
guest speaker at a town hall forum sponsored by the Loudon County Democratic
Party.
The meeting will be held Saturday, Aug. 23 at 4-6 p.m. at the Loudon County
Democratic Party headquarters, 102 E. Broadway in Lenoir City. Everyone is
invited.
Members of the house Democratic Party caucus elected McMillan to the second
highest leadership position in the state house in 2002. At that time, she had
served as state representative from Clarksville for 12 years. She retired from
the legislature in 2006 and served in Gov. Phil Bredesen’s cabinet for two
years. She has formed a committee to explore a possible run for governor in
2010.
The town hall meeting will explore the possibility and gather support for her
possible run. It also is intended to generate support for Democratic candidates
running in the fall election, including the Obama presidential campaign. The
goal is to increase participation in the campaigns leading up to the November
election.
Light finger foods and beverages will be served. Please come by and visit and meet Ms. McMillan.
