Six Independents in race to Finish

August 5 Loudon County General Election

Now that the dust has settled from the May 4th Republican and Democratic Primary election, its time to move forward to the August 5 Loudon County General - State Primary Election.
There's a sense of frustration all around the country with the two political parties and voters are looking for other choices and options. There are many reasons for considering Independents, Independents are not held to party politics and they are able to vote in the best interests of their constituents.
Question: Why didn't the name of Independent candidates appear on the May 4th Primary ballot?
Answer: Independents do not run in the Primary race. The Primary Election race is strictly for candidates who declare in the Republican or Democratic Party Primary Election. The names of all Independent candidates will appear in their respective races on the August 5, Loudon County General Election ballot. Independents will run against their respective counterparts Republicans or Democratic candidates.
Question: Do I need to register for a specific party, Republican or Democratic?
Answer: No. Tennessee does not have a party registry. In the August 5 State Primary County General Election, you have the option of voting in the Republican or Democratic Primary and County General ballot. In some instances, voters may choose to skip the Republican or Democratic Primary race altogether and just vote in the County General Election, that's your choice.

Last day to register to vote in the August 5 County General Election: July 6
Early Voting: July 16 - July 31
Locations: Roane State Community College, 100 W. Broadway, Lenoir City
